About Troxel Custom Homes

Quality is important and it is integral in everything that we do. It’s not selective, but universal, no matter what the value.

We pursue the little things, and the big, making sure that extra layer is in play, from design to paperwork to final execution.

We stand tall and always do what is right for our clients. We believe trust is earned and we make a point of earning it.

We find value in the people we align ourselves with, and we become a part of the lives of those that choose to work with us.

Troxel Custom Homes is not the biggest builder in West Michigan, but we do strive to be the best. We intentionally stay small enough that we can give all of our projects our full attention, yet large enough that we can work efficiently with proven processes and dedicated trades.

We have been in operation in Holland Michigan for over 25 years. The business was started by Brian Troxel, a third generation home builder, and his wife Kris in the mid 90’s after moving to the area from Florida. Brian quickly built a reputation for his consistent quality and attention to detail.

In 2005 Drew DeMeester joined Troxel Custom Homes. Drew came with experience in business management, construction management, estimating, purchasing, and architectural design. In 2015, Brian and Drew began exploring the process of transitioning the business from being owned by Brian to being owned by Drew. That process resulted in the formal transition of the company ownership to Drew in 2017.

Although Brian and Kris have formally retired now, they’re still close friends and mentors to Drew as he continues to move forward maintaining the longstanding company values of quality, attention to detail, integrity, and relationships.

Troxel Custom Homes is a proud to be partnered with 20 of the nation’s finest builders through the National Association of Home Builder’s Builder 20 Clubs. This is an industry club that meets on an ongoing basis for advice via roundtable discussions, educational sessions, and business evaluations. One of the most significant benefits of membership is the role it provides for us as a Board of Directors. They critique, analyze, and consult on all aspects of our building business – and they ensure that we stay on top of the latest trends and help focus us toward continually improving our company.

We specialize in building quality homes and exceptional renovations by paying attention to all the details to make sure it is done right. With longstanding relationships with trade contractors and vendors, many of whom go back to the 90’s, Troxel Custom Homes is able to consistently build distinctive award-winning homes with quality at their core.

Troxel Custom Homes is proud to have been part of so many homes in the West Michigan area, and values each relationship that they build with their clients, and looks forward to continuing to be a leader in the residential construction industry in West Michigan for many years to come.

Drew DeMeester

As a kid, I was fascinated by home design and how those designs became reality. In the late 1970’s I was given my grandfather’s drafting tools so I could begin to draw my own plans—many hours were spent designing and redesigning those first homes. My family can attest to the hours I would spend studying plan books, and daydreaming about the homes I would someday build. As I grew, I thought that I would pursue an engineering degree, but my love of home design and construction was too strong resulting in, at the end of college, a Bachelors of Science degree in Construction Science and Management. I obtained my Michigan Residential Builders License in 1993 and have been professionally part of the residential building industry ever since.

I began my professional career getting my feet wet in new home sales, operational management, and construction estimating roles. I then began my own architectural design business in West Michigan designing homes for many of the area’s home builders. In 2005 I was given the opportunity to join Troxel Custom Homes, a builder that I admired for the quality homes they consistently created. Eventually, in 2015 I began talks with Brian Troxel (then the owner of Troxel Custom Homes) to assume leadership and ownership of the business. I truly feel blessed to work every day in an industry that I love and to be part of the process of creating something exceptional for our homeowners that will enhance their lives. Now with over 30 years in the construction industry, I not only look toward continuing to lead Troxel Custom Homes, but also helping raise up the next generation of home builders in West Michigan

After my daughter told me that my singing sounded “like a pig in pain,” I decided to give up my aspirations to be discovered by American Idol and now focus my time away from the office and home by helping others to be the best they can be. I enjoy getting to know people, especially people with different backgrounds from my own, and learning what makes them unique. I approach every person from a position of openness and curiosity.

Even though I have had the privilege to travel to many areas around the globe, every time I come back to West Michigan, I know I am “home”. I enjoy being an active part of my community and have been an active board member of multiple organizations in the area. I often find myself mentoring other men in various capacities as I believe it is important to build up. My wife Angela (whom I decided to marry on our first date) and I live in Zeeland, Michigan. We share our home with River, our very energetic Schnoodle. We are proud parents, empty nesters (almost), and now are enjoying the role of being grandparents. I have to admit that being a grandpa is by far the best role I have ever had! We are a social family and enjoy “doing life together”. I also enjoy sailing, spending time “up north”, good food, good beer, and spending time with good friends.

The Troxels spent their entire careers doing something that they really enjoy: building custom homes for great customers and friends. They’re now enjoying retirement, but you may see them around the office from time to time!

"Troxel Custom Homes provided us with both services and product that exceeded our expectations. From the first meeting when they asked questions and patiently listened to us for nearly three hours, to the homeowner training, Troxel Custom Homes focused on delivering a custom home for us."

Glynis & Ken

"The staff were incredible during the entire building process from design to delivery. Every step of the process was enjoyable and hassle-free thanks to the fine crew of contractors, designers and suppliers who assisted along the way. We give Troxel Custom Homes an A+ for quality and customer satisfaction!"

Dan & Dianna

"Since we lived 150 miles away from the area where our new home was to be built, it was important that we went with a builder who not only does quality work but also has integrity, conscientiousness, attention to detail, and is trustworthy.

In Troxel Custom Homes we found all those qualities."
