My very first wood working project was an ice fishing sled when I was about 13. My dad said I could use whatever wood I could find in the garage. I took this one step further and grabbed an old church door that my dad was saving for a “very special” project. I proceeded to rip this beautiful piece of our church’s history into small strips for the sides of my sled. Let’s just say we can laugh about it now. This was where my love for building started. I began working in construction while in high school, cleaning up job sites and delivering miscellaneous tools and materials. I continued to fall deeper in love with it, from the everyday comradery to the sense of accomplishment at days’ end. After high school, I started working as a sub-contractor for a couple different companies and realty firms. I learned a ton from the finely tuned craftsmen I was privileged to work alongside.
Throughout my professional career, I have learned what it meant to be a servant leader by everyone around me. These special men and women taught me about time management, making myself accessible, and how to be a good leader. Most importantly, I was taught to put people first. Above everything else, all that really matters is the relationships we build and making a positive impact on the world around us.
Since I can remember, I have had a passion for the outdoors. From tournament bass fishing to waterfowl hunting to bow hunting, I spend the majority of my time away from work in the outdoors. My wife, Courtney, and I love to take our son for walks and teach him about God’s wonderful creation. I cannot wait to pass on the traditions of being a sportsman to our son. My favorite part about hunting and fishing is getting new people involved. From younger kids to adults, I absolutely adore seeing the look on their face when they catch their first small mouth bass or shoot their first wood duck. These are the moments that I live for.
